I can barely get my kids to sleep under the blankets on their beds, let alone have a child that had a security blanket. This is the closest I can get to a security blanket. Little Matthew goes every where with it. Goes to bed with it, wakes up in the morning, and before he comes out he has to find his Lightning car. We even had two cars at one time. Matthew would lose one at grandma's house or at our house. When we would loose one, we would find the other. However, we pray he doesn't loose the one he has now, because it's been a couple of months and we have yet to find the back up car.
During Christmas vacation when he was so sick, Lightning seemed to help him feel better. He would be so sick not wanting to do anything but sit on our laps. Allison would find Lightning laying around under his bed. She would come running and hand it over to Matthew. He would put on such a sad little smile and just hug that little car so tightly, it just made you smile. What a cute little boy!!

Way cute!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! Emma and Bruce don't have security blankets, either. Emma's 'security item' is her black stuffed animal dog. Bruce hasn't seemed to become attached to anything yet.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a Mansfield thing to sleep without covers, because my kids do that too. I think it is so cute that Matthew loves Lighting McQueen so much.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh. It reminded me of my oldest. He used to sleep with his lightsaber. Yep, for probably 3 years! He can sleep without it now, but it was the closest thing to a security blanket we've had around here. It just doesn't seem very comfortable to me--but whatever works, right?
