Armor of God

A couple of weeks ago, our FHE lesson was about putting on the "Armor of God". I made a shield, and a sword before hand. As Dad read the scripture relating to what piece of armor, I would dress up the kids. Allison loved getting all dressed up, Matthew could care less about getting dressed but loved the shield, not the sword, but the shield. Matthew knew right away what he was supposed to do, he started fighting right away, again with the shield, not the sword. Allison is using the shield the way it should be and praying it would stop the blows coming from Matthew. (He won the fight, Allison would try to stay in the fight, then "fall back").

Ready for the battle, but still missing our head gear.

In all the heavy fighting, Allison's breast plate kept falling off. We ended up just tapping it to her clothes.

Testing out all the homemade armor.

Matthew not digging the hat so much.

I had the giggles that night. Watching Matthew bend over and try to pick up his dropped sword, was a little like the way I bend over being 7 months pregnant. It got me laughing so hard that I couldn't stop. This is Kevin trying to get a picture of me laughing uncontrollably. I'm not sure if the spirit was there, but I think this is one that the kids will remember. And as the kids look back on this night, maybe the spirit will speak to them then.

  1. I think that is super spiritual, plus you are doing an activity as a family. Plus how spiritual can toddlers be? That is such a cute idea, did you have any tinfoil left?

  3. I think that's awesome. I always love a good Family Home Evening. I think as long as your not screaming and yelling, and throwing fits the Spirit is there. I'm sure your kids will remember that one.

  4. SO CUTE!!! I love the idea. I think I'll steal it for our FHE sometime-but maybe I'd better think about that one a bit longer, not sure about the swords flying around. I always seem to get hit.
