Birthday Boy!!

As weird as it is, I have been waiting for this day. Well, ever since I turned 30. I am older then Kevin by a month, and he makes sure that I remember that. This being the year we turned 30, he definitely made sure I knew I was older. Here is my sweetheart's birthday.

We always do our own birthday celebration on the actual day. Instead of doing a huge cake, I just made Kevin's favorite-tasting-cake. I must agree, it's yummy!! It's a chocolate cake mix, you leave some things out, add a can of cherry pie filling and wow, with the choco. chip icing, YUM!

We did the big family party on conference weekend, and this is the cake I made for him. Let me tell you about our usual conference weekend: We head over to my mom's around nine in the morning to eat the traditional abvelskivers (check spelling?) breakfast then we watch conference, then we play some ball, then we watch some more conference, then we have dinner, do the dishes, let dinner sit, and finally we have some dessert.

Having to look at this cake all day, with all the choco. chunks sitting so innocently on top, was complete torture. To the adults and to the children. By the time we actually started singing Happy Birthday to Kevin, you could tell some of the chunks didn't make it that long. It's a chocolate cake with coconut cream filling, surrounded with more chocolate. A little difficult to cut, but not difficult to eat.

With all those candles, Allison thought daddy needed some help blowing them all out. It was a fun birthday, and welcome to the 30 and older bracket sweetie!!

  5. Oh my goodness, I started salivating worse with each picture. I can't imagine having to look at it for a whole day before eating it!! If that cake were at my house I would have to change all of the traditions and have dessert after breakfast. Actually, make that, dessert for breakfast!
