I love cake!! Pies are okay, but cakes are YUMMY!! Here is my dear sweet husband's cake for me. He came home from work and went straight to work. As he is putting the cake batter into the oven he realizes that he forgot to grease up the pans. With how many cake shows he's watched with me he figured he could piece it back together after they cooled.
Good idea, and it should have worked, but it still fell apart. So good thing it's not Iron Chef and he's not getting judged by how it looks. But it tasted awesome! And if you add up the number on the candles, you get three and then no other numbers on the cake would then make zero. In the round about way that makes 30, follow?? We really just couldn't find our other candles. With how many cakes I make you would think that would be easy to find, right? Well I don't know what to say, we must have been robbed. :)
Kevin also walked in the door holding up a Diet Pepsi, and a bag from our favorite candy shop (sweet pea). In that bag he bought me two double dip mints, and a chocolate covered cashew wheel. YUMMY!! Good thing my prenatal visit with the doctor was earlier that week. I would hate to see how much I gained in just that evening.
It was a fun birthday! My brother Wyatt and his wife took Kevin and I out to lunch at my most favorite place. And just being with my family that evening was all I needed! I'll say it again, I had a fun birthday, and turning 30 wasn't as bad as I thought. I was expecting some early mid-life crisis or something. Yea, it didn't happen, and I feel okay being 30.

Happy Birthday melanie!! I am glad you had such a good one. And kudos to your husband for even attempting to make a cake for the cake master!
ReplyDeleteWell, Kevin did all right, but I don't think you should hire him when you get your cake business up and running (no offense Kevin). I'm glad you had a good birthday, 30 really isn't all that bad.
ReplyDeleteLoving the looks of that double dipped chocolate. What a cute cake. That is such a nice thing for him to do. Welcome to the 30's girl. Happens to the best of us.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Mel! I've been wondering how the big 30 will feel in a couple months. I've had time to get used to the idea with Keith being 31 now. I remember 25 was hard, now I just can't imagine what it would be like to be 25 again :)
ReplyDeleteI love your husband's attempt at a cake! I usually just buy myself one because I refuse to make my own!
Glad you had a great b-day!
You guys are so funny! I about died laughing. That cake is awesome. Way to go Kevin. (You still get a 10 for effort, at least you remembered that your wife needs a cake for her b-day)
ReplyDeleteHappy late birthday! I love the way you did the numbers. =) That last picture looks divine! And to comment on a lower post- we love grandmas jam too! Scott raided his mom's food storage over christmas and we've just been cruising through the jam. It's just about gone. =(
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were okay with it because it sure hit me pretty hard! Happy Belated Birthday!
