Family Fun Friday... our version

I've been playing around on other blogs and looking for all sorts of ideas. Ideas on how to get organized, easier ways to keep a clean house, fun ideas for summer, and so on. There is this particular blog that I found, it's called "Family Fun Friday" (It's in my extra's list if you want to check it out, and trust me, you do.) We have been trying to do our own family fun friday, they usually consist of pajama parties in the front room with popcorn, or trips to the park, just the simple stuff. This last weekend I decided to step it up a notch, and copy Lindsay's ideas, and I give all credit to her.

Our theme was the movie "Up".

Well, to start the day off we put together our "adventure books". If you remember in the movie, Ellie had an adventure book, where she kept her treasures. Well, it's the beginning of summer, what better time to start an adventure book. We figured with the trips we take to the park and our future FFFs, it would be fun to put them in their adventure books. Also on Lindsay's blog, she had a link where you could get a free "Up" activity book download. We made a copy for each of the kids. One of the activities is a page full of badges (Russell is a scout trying to get his last badge-helping the elderly), so we came up with things that they will have to do to earn their badges, and then they can put the badges in their adventure book. I don't recall seeing a sniper hunt badge.

Matthew showing off his stickers. We were going to cover the books in cuter paper, but apparently, I have taken ALL my scrap book paper down to mom's house. Matthew had cars, trucks, and helicopter stickers.

Here is Allison doing the same thing. She had cute little butterflies, and dragon fly stickers. She was very excited about the whole idea. Again, if only we had some scrap book paper...oh well.

Hard at work.

Here is Madalynn just cruising around from chair to chair. Standing on tip toe trying to see what the older kids are doing on the table.

On a different blog, a while back, I can't even remember which blog, I found this cute idea for balloon cupcakes. You use doughnut holes covered in circle confettie candies, and chinese noodles (really, really fine) and it looks like a bunch of balloon on top of the cupcake. Well, like I said I couldn't remember what blog I found it on, so I couldn't remember what they used to get the confetti to stick to the doughnut holes. I figured chocolate would work great. And it did, the confetti stuck great to the doughnut holes, but made it INCREDIBLY heavy. So, instead floating balloons, you get balloons sitting on a cupcake. Still pretty cute, but you should have seen the floating balloons. They would make you say "Awwwwwww".

The kiddos eating our "balloons sitting on a cupcake" cupcakes. Pretty tasty....

It made for a really fun friday, the kids loved it, and we still have the rest of the summer to work on our adventure books, and badges. What fun!!!

Next one that we have planned is off of "Planet 51". Also from Lindsay's FFF blog. Thanks for the ideas Lindsay!!

  2. You are so good. I read Lindsay's ideas and think "That sounds like a lot of fun, but also a lot of work" I haven't tried any yet. And next time you need cute scrapbook paper, just come up and take some of mine. I have plenty and I am willing to share.
