Zoo animals

Kevin's parents live only ten minutes away from the Hogle Zoo. So Jaelene byes the summer family package each year. If there is ever a time when we can't figure out what to do. We just pack up the kids and go to the zoo. The last time we went was perfect. We were there by 9:30 in the morning (the Zoo opens at 9:00), so we were able to get front row parking, & walk right in with our passes. The weather was wonderful, I don't think it got above 85 degrees the whole day. And the kids did awesome.

Matthew loved all the animals, this is what most of my pictures look like of Matthew, the back side of him. He would not take his eyes of them. Like I said the weather was nice and cool, so most of the animals were outside playing. And it was breakfast time for the animals, they were out and close. These are the lovely wart hogs.
Here is Allison, also in front of the wart hogs. The kids thought the wart hogs were pretty neat. They were one of the first animals that we saw. Little did they know what else lay ahead.
The Zebra, ooh, aah. What pretty horses! They had a couple of other animals in with the zebras, but I don't think my kids saw them. At this point we have already passed the elephants, bears, cougars, monkeys- which by surprise one of the monkeys had a baby. They said they had no idea the monkey was even pregnant, then one morning when they went to feed the monkey, surprise!! There was a little baby monkey on the belly of it's mother. It was one of those skunk looking monkeys, so the baby was so little, and the mom protected it pretty good, I couldn't get a good picture of it. It was so cute!!
This is a picture of me and Matthew, and Allison is taking the picture. Pretty good. I was sure that we wouldn't even make it in the picture. And here we are in the picture, even close to centered.
The giraffes, also one of the kids favorite, also had a little baby, well maybe more like a toddler. He was still small enough that Allison could tell he was a baby. The giraffes came pretty close to Matthew a couple of times. They would bend over to look, and my brave little Matthew would run the other direction with a very concerned look on his face.

What a fun age for the kids. They were both old enough this time that the trip was so much fun. I didn't have to fight either of them. Even when it was time to go home.

  1. I really need to take my kids to the zoo. They would love it. I think Kamryn is the only one who has ever been before, and he was pretty little. Maybe next year.

  2. What cute babies, the kids are pretty cute, too! I love the zoo, Chloe slept through most of it. But that doesn't surprise me.
