My big 4 year old

So much has happened for Allison these last couple of weeks. After nearly two years of trying, we finally mastered the potty training challenge. HURRAY!!! Mom couldn't be more excited. Once she went "poopy in the potty" or, let her "poopies go swimming" the rest just fell into place.

Allison had her fourth birthday a week ago now (the 25, first day of school). We celebrated her birthday at home, then the following sunday we went to grandma's house to celebrate it with all the cousins. Allison is in the fun age of "Barbie", this birthday alone she doubled her amount of dolls owned. We need to get her a Ken doll though. She has mommies and babies and no daddies... It is so very fun to watch her play.

Since we got the Wii, and the Tiger Woods golf game, she is always hitting balls into cups turned on their sides. She will find a wooden spoon and use that has her club. So we bought her a little more realistic golf game. It came with two clubs and two balls, and one ball throwing alligator. She's getting really good at it.

Here's the cake that I did for Allison this year. And yes it is supposed to be "tipsy" like that. When Mom first saw the cake, she wanted to take a picture real fast before it fell over. She thought it was on its way down.

I had tried a couple of new things on this cake. First of all is the "tipsy" look. I don't know whether to take moms comment as a compliment, or not. :) No, I like the way it turned out, I just wish I had done the bottom cake as well. Second, I found a new recipe for a chocolate fondant. I had once tried a marshmallow fondant, that didn't work, so when I found this one I was excited yet a little worried. It worked, kind-of. You cant smooth it our as easy. It's very stretchy and sticky.

Overall I think the cake turned out pretty cute. Kevin loved it, Allison loved it, and so did the family, thats all that matters. (I'm a bit of a perfectionist)

  3. I love the cake--you are really good! Sounds like you made your own chocolate fondant, that is so cool. Alas, there are no pretty cakes like that at our house, so its fun to see.
